Greg chose the colors for this new pastel set from Mount Vision. The 75-piece Basic Workshop Set is an all-purpose set containing colors that mix well, with the selection weighted toward the darker colors.

Using the Biolchini Workshop set, Greg painted Pops II (left) at the Mount Vision booth as a demonstration at the International Association of Pastel Societies Biannual Convention 2003.

The delightfully playful, almost Impressionistic style of Swamp Cabbage Hammock (above) demonstrates the versaility of the Biolchini Workshop Set in the hands of an artist with a strong sense of tone and color. The viewer's eye travels over a stretch of sky reflected in water before being drawn to the dramatic, dark values of the trees.

Greg has taken his own set of Mount Vision pastels to the Everglades National Park, where he braved swarms of bloodthirsty mosquitos, alligators and sweltering early summer heat to paint the Fakahatchee Strand seen at left. Using just the Biolchini Workshop Set, Greg captured the complex highlights, shadows and reflections of the trees and sky Florida's River of Grass.

The Biolchini Workshop Set was the perfect answer to the subtle interplay of light tones in the sand in Greg's Storm Watch. The painting, currently in the Top 200 in the Arts for the Parks annual arts contest, accurately depicts the drama of a gathering storm on the Florida coast, with stunning representations of delicate white clouds chased by brooding dark clouds.
